FIND WHAT IS CAUSING THAT HEADACHE , THEN TREAT

After living for over half my life in Chronic Pain (l8 yrs. of which no one could give me a true diagnosis--so I rec'd a great many manipulations of body, mind and spirit, leaving me in the wake of a disasterous effort that went from living to struggling to exist), I know how imperative it is to have a RIGHT diagnosis of the pain that is destroying your life BEFORE you submit yourself, your body/mind/spirit to the experimentation of any and every so-called specialist carrying a medical degree--too often that is all that piece of paper means. You MUST be a partner in this process or risk losing your life or your ability to live one.

Causes: Tense muscles in the shoulders, neck, scalp and jaw;
anxiety or depression; biochemical fluctuations in the brain; overuse of pain
medications.

Who gets it: Roughly 78 percent of adults have a tension-type
headache at some point. Most headaches are tension-type.

Treatment: For daily headaches, a doctor can prescribe tricyclic
antidepressants, anti-seizure drugs or beta-blockers to prevent attacks.
Intermittent headaches respond to over-the-counter pain relievers and lifestyle
adjustments. "You have to listen to your body and not ignore the signals, what
is setting off this headache," said Dr. Daniel Hurley, a physiatrist.
