Soviet Zionist Against Middle East Peace!

Russian immigrants as "hardest core" groups against peace.

Bill Clinton: Russian immigrants are obstacle to peace

Bill Clinton has caused anger in Israel by describing Russian-speaking immigrants to the Jewish state as a significant obstacle to a peace deal with the Palestinians.

Bill Clinton angers Israelis by saying Russian immigrants are obstacle to peace

The former US president claimed that the million-strong community of Jews who emigrated from former Soviet states after the collapse of Communism was generally more opposed to the creation of a Palestinian state than other Israelis.

Portraying Russian youngsters as one of "the hardest core" groups against the division of the Holy Land, Mr Clinton said: "This presents a staggering problem. It's a different Israel. Sixteen per cent of Israelis speak Russian. They've just got here," he told reporters in New York.

There was also condemnation from the ultra-Zionist Israel Beiteinu party led by Avigdor Lieberman, Mr Netanyahu's hawkish foreign minister. The party, which draws the vast majority of its support from Russian speakers, criticised Mr Clinton for meddling in Israel's internal affairs and dismissed his comments as "crude generalisations".

Yet observers say there is little doubt that the wave of immigration from the former Soviet Union has shifted the Israeli political landscape to the right. Yisrael Beiteinu swept to third place in last year's general elections on a platform that some critics said was racist towards Israel's Arab minority. The party has criticised the latest round of negotiations with Palestinian leaders.

"A series of violations of international law, including international humanitarian and human rights law, were committed by the Israeli forces during the interception of the flotilla and during the detention of passengers in Israel prior to deportation," the experts found.

Examining the circumstances of the raid, the panel concluded that a humanitarian crisis existed in Gaza on the day of the incident in Gaza and "for this reason alone the blockade is unlawful and cannot be sustained in law."

"The conduct of the Israeli military and other personnel toward the flotilla passengers was not only disproportionate to the occasion but demonstrated levels of totally unnecessary and incredible violence. It betrayed an unacceptable level of brutality," the report said.

It described the Israeli raid on May 31st, in which eight Turkish activists and one Turkish-American aboard the Mavi Marmara were shot and killed, as "clearly unlawful."

The Palestinian group Hamas, meanwhile, praised the report and called for those involved in the raid to be punished.

The UN Human Rights Council's fact-finding mission concluded that Israel's naval blockade of the Palestinian territory was unlawful because of the humanitarian crisis there, and described the military raid on the flotilla as brutal and disproportionate.

Israeli forces violated international law when they raided a Gaza-bound aid flotilla killing nine activists earlier this year, a report by three UN-appointed human rights experts said.

The 56-page document lists a series of alleged crimes committed by Israeli forces during and after the raid, including wilful killing and torture. It also alleges that Israel violated the right to life, liberty, freedom of expression and the right of captured crew and passengers to be treated with humanity.

Enemy Agent is ANYONE in oPt in contact with Arab-Israeli-citizen!!!!

Contact with enemy agents is so broad that it turns any meeting, phone conversation or online contact with an Arab from an enemy state into a criminal offense. This includes people living in the West Bank and Gaza; sometimes the security apparatus won't even say who the alleged agent is.

"It is a trap, a distortion that must be corrected," said the lawyer.

A HUGE media circus with promises of MAJOR criminal charges later fizzle out into minor indictments!

How dozens of Israeli Arab 'espionage' arrests ended in minor convictions

Attorney describes legal clause on contact with agents as 'a trap' that turns any interaction with an Arab from an enemy state into a criminal offense.

Omar Said Moran Maayan 5.2010

Dr. Omar Said in a Nazareth court, May 2010.

Dr. Omar Said, the Kafr Kana resident who was released last week after five months in jail, is one of dozens of Israeli Arabs who have been detained over allegations of security and espionage offenses. As in most of these cases, the story opened with massive media coverage and serious suspicions, but ended with a limited indictment - contact with an enemy agent - and a relatively short jail sentence.

Attorney Hussein Abuhussein, who represented Said and has witnessed many such security cases, told Haaretz that the legal clause pertaining to contact with enemy agents is so broad that it turns any meeting, phone conversation or online contact with an Arab from an enemy state into a criminal offense. Abuhussein says this includes people living in the West Bank and Gaza; sometimes the security apparatus won't even say who the alleged agent is.

"It is a trap, a distortion that must be corrected," he said.

Attorney Abeer Baker of Adalah, the Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel, agrees that this clause has become a tool the prosecution uses to achieve quick convictions in security cases. In a recent position paper, she describes how the clause is used as leverage to pressure security detainees and their defense lawyers to sign plea bargains quickly. Once convicted, they can be sentenced to jail terms ranging from a few months to seven years.

The Shin Bet security service says the clause is being used increasingly due to the increased attempts by terror organizations, led by Hezbollah, to strike a foothold in the Israeli Arab community. The Shin Bet's website says Hezbollah is trying to enlist operatives from the Arab sector who can help them learn about Israel's military and security matters as well as the public mood.

In 2005 a plea bargain was signed with two dentists, Dr. Nazmi Hassin of Nazareth and Dr. Salem Zaydan of Kafr Manda. The two were first accused of aiding to the enemy in wartime for contact with a Hamas activist while they were studying in Romania. They admitted to one of the clauses in the indictment, contact with a foreign agent, and were sentenced to three and a half years in jail.

Dr. Said, first accused of aggravated espionage, agreed to a plea bargain that stated he made contact with a foreign agent, and was sentenced to seven months in jail. The agent was Hassan Jaja, a Lebanese citizen who has contacts with Hezbollah, who tried to recruit him along with Amir Makhoul. Although he confessed, Said continues to claim that the affair was nothing less than political persecution: "Jaja is active in civilian organizations and is well-acquainted with the special position of Arab citizens in Israel. The attempt to accuse him of recruiting agents is completely unfounded," Said said last week.

Catholics in England suffered long repression

STONOR, England – For nearly three centuries after the Reformation, Catholics in England were outlaws.

But in the turmoil and persecution that followed the break between King Henry VIII and Rome, noble families such as the Stonors clung to their faith, "in spite of dungeon, fire and sword," as the Victorian hymn "Faith of our Fathers" put it.

The Stonor family's history mirrors the vicissitudes of Catholics, both noble and humble, who defied the law and risked death to preserve their faith through times of persecution until they regained full legal rights in the 19th century.

The Stonors were among those described as respectable "recusants," people who refused to attend Church of England services; respectable because they did not join in any plots to overthrow the monarchy.

It was possible, even in the turbulent times of Queen Elizabeth I, to be openly Catholic and still enjoy royal favor. A notable case was the composer William Byrd, who wrote music for the Chapel Royal and for the Catholic Mass.

The Stonor family sheltered another famous martyr, the Jesuit priest Edmund Campion. Campion's printing press was discovered at the Stonor house after Campion was arrested in 1581. Dame Cecily Stonor, who had already been paying yearly fines equivalent to 50,000 pounds ($77,000) in today's money, and her son John were arrested as well.

She stoutly refused to renounce her faith in which, she declared, she found "nothing taught in it but great virtue and sanctity, and so by the grace of God I will live and die in it."

The heavy fines and confiscation of Catholic lands depleted the wealth of the Stonors, who by the 14th century had owned 22 manors in eight counties plus 60 acres (24 hectares) of land in the center of London.

Various post-Reformation laws barred Catholics from entering London, traveling more than 10 miles (16 kilometers) from home or owning horses worth more than 10 pounds, but the Stonor family continued to live in some comfort in their grand house, nestled between hills in the countryside 40 miles (65 kilometers) west of London.

Demjanjuk health issues taking over trial

John Demjanjuk

BERLIN – John Demjanjuk attends most sessions of his trial in a hospital bed set up in the courtroom, wearing dark sunglasses and a hat pulled down over his face.

The case of the retired Ohio autoworker accused of serving as a Nazi death camp guard — which resumes next week after a monthlong summer break — broke potentially precedent-setting ground when it opened last year.

But it has become increasingly dominated by the 90-year-old defendant's failing health.

Nazi hunters have taken keen interest in the Demjanjuk saga because it's the first time German authorities have prosecuted such a low-ranking suspect on the premise that, even without evidence of a specific crime, simply working at a death camp was enough to be an accessory to murder.

Shipwreck survivor recalls how town altered his idea of race

Phillips could scarcely believe what was happening: a white woman caring for a black man as if he were her son. Back home in Georgia, he thought, she could have been run out of town, and he could easily have been lynched.

But Phillips wasn't in Georgia. He was in the tiny coastal mining community of St. Lawrence, Newfoundland, with its population of about 1,000. It was February 1942. He was an 18-year-old Navy mess attendant, steeped in the segregation of the American South and the U.S. Navy. Yet as he rested in the tender care of a rural housewife named Violet Pike, the course of his life, he said, was altered forever.

Scarred in the crucible of racism, he vowed to live like the people who saved him.

But Phillips, who was the lowest of the low in the segregated Navy of World War II, also has a powerful story he has made it his mission to tell. Mess attendants were essentially officers' waiters, said Phillips, a resident of Washington's Armed Forces Retirement Home. They were trained to polish silverware and shoes and to serve meals. They were forced to wear bow ties, he said, and were not permitted to wear brass buttons on their coats. Their buttons could only be black.

Many attendants were African Americans, and as such were relegated to bunking in segregated portions of their ships. "The Navy was as racist as the state of Mississippi," he said. But even the most junior mess attendant had a battle station. His was on a large gun mounted on the ship's bow, where he used special gloves to grab hot expended shell casings and throw them overboard.

EXECUTIONS! 'Legal' USA vs Zionist 'judicial'

The US might appear the leading executioner of its unwanted, but proportionately the Zionists win hands down. Theirs is the more instant type, assassination, than the protracted inhuman US 'legal' version lasting years. One is political and racist; the other not political.

As with Rabin, assassination of their own was regular. "Political assassinations by Jews: a rhetorical device for justice" by Nachman Ben-Yehuda, details assassination of even British politicians as well as their Zionist rivals.

What puts the Zionists in a league of their own is so called judicial targeted assassination of its opponents. This infers some notion of legality. It's MURDER! The comic opera of Dubai on CCTV was MURDER! Street dancing Zionist on 9/11, Gaza, the flotilla etcetera are all MURDER. OK, so is collateral damage from drones too. The 'chosen people' believe they have some god given right to murder without reference to courts. Some democracy!!!!

Death Penalty: A Zionist State of Assassins !!

Tought to kill
The israili systematic assassination policy is very well known. Israel has been using Death Penalty even before it was established and once it was terrorist groups of Lehi, Irgun, and Etzel, even a long time before they (the zionist terrorists) assassinated the Swedish noble and diplomat Bernadette…. It’s a Zionist systematic policy that was established on the assassination mentality, and the assassins mostly become the top leaders of Israel like Shamir, Sharon, Barak, Livni the list is endless.

Hundreds of our leader, intellectuals, professors, students, prisoners, women, writers, thinkers, politicians, novelists, researchers, mayors, teachers, peace activists… have been deliberately assassinated by the terrorist state of israel. Over the past 100 years, the zionists have been targeting our elite to eliminate any possibility to have a healthy society and leadership, they are annihilating our people.

Hundreds of Palestinian prisoners were assassinated inside the prison after being caught and investigated like [Akkawi], others were released and shoot dead in the street a few days after being released. Hundreds of our leaders were assassinated in their offices, cars, homes or the street by the israeli assassination units that are ruling the Zionist state. Hundreds of writers, young peace activists, women were deliberately assassinated in their homes or in the street !!!

For the israeli terrorists, there are many different reasons to assassinate. Sometimes they murder a peace activist for his/her ability to convinces the Israelis and international peace activists to act, for his ability to cluster more peace activists [Abu-Rahmeh]. Sometimes when his impartial plan that is about to reach to a peaceful settlement [Bernadotte]. Sometimes students are killed because they are so popular in defending their cause specially those studying in the European Universities [al-Khederi]. Sometimes a leader is assassinated because he so influential in the International politics [Abu-Iyad]. Sometimes, a women is slain simply because her ability to organize and lead [Muna Dahi]. Sometimes a juvenile student is targeted for his a ability to move his fellow students to demonstrate [hundreds]. Sometimes a prisoner is assassinated for his ability to educated other prisoners [Ibrahim alraai]. Sometimes a writer is killed because he is internationally quoted for his authentic writings [Kanafani]. Sometimes a mayor is killed for being a leading national figure that unites Muslims and Christians together [Khalaf] the christian mayor of Ramalla. Sometime they assassinate Arab scientist for their abort their efforts [Almashad]. Sometimes they even slaughter European scientist who are about to reveal the zionist sabotage plots [Bonomo & Ferez]. Sometimes, simply because he doesn’t look good in the zionst eyes…. Shall we go on and name thousands of simple unknown martyrs who were targeted deliberately and shoot from “zero distance מדווח אפס”? if to use the zionist terminology after committing a successful assassination?

*Persian Book of Kings: GREATEST Work of Persian Literature*

It is a massive book - twice as long as the Iliad and Odyssey put together.

It ends with the fall of the Persian empire at the hands of the Arabs and Turks.

1,000 years after the poet Ferdowsi, who dedicated his life to crafting its 60,000 verses, completed his story, it is remembered as one of the greatest works of Persian literature.

In Persian literature it's a given that the Shahnameh - Book of Kings - is a timeless classic; In the West however the work is probably less well-known now than in Victorian times.

The work was completed exactly 1,000 years ago by the Persian poet Ferdowsi, who dedicated his life to crafting its 60,000 verses.

1,000 years after he completed his story, it is remembered as one of the great works of Persian literature.

The Epic of the Persian Kings exhibition at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge runs until 9 January 2011.

The earliest paintings on show are from the 1300s and they finally peter out in the mid-19th Century, meaning the tradition of hand-illustrating books in this extravagant way survived in Persia for some three centuries after it ended in Europe.

Each of the illustrations in Cambridge shows a scene from the Shahnameh - military or amorous or fantastical. Exploits of kings feature strongly.

Part of the Shahnameh's significance is that Persian-speakers can read it today as people did a millennium ago and encounter few problems.

The work became popular only after his death.

It is a massive book - twice as long as the Iliad and Odyssey put together.

It ends with the fall of the Persian empire at the hands of the Arabs and Turks.

The pieces are inscribed with hieroglyphics dating from the 3rd Century BC.

They will now be returned to the Egyptian government.

The artefacts were looted from the Saqqara burial ground in the ancient Egyptian capital of Memphis, south of Cairo, in 1999.

*Site of Roman Battle in North Germany Found!*

The Romans' supremacy was also partly based on the varied skills in their multi-ethnic army. Among the auxiliaries they employed on the Harzhorn were Moroccan javelin men and Middle Eastern archers.

The Roman historian Herodian says that Maximinus laid waste to the whole country, destroying crops, burning down villages after allowing the army to plunder them, and stealing cattle from the Germanic 'barbarians.'

New finds suggest Romans won big North Germany battle (Feature)

By Jean-Baptiste Piggin
Sep 15, 2010, 3:06 GMT

New finds at a well-preserved ancient battlefield in the north of Germany are not only rewriting geo-political history, but also revealing some of the secrets of Rome's military success.

Until only two years ago, northern Germany was believed to have been a no-go area for Roman troops after three legions were wiped out by German tribesmen in the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest in AD 9.

The revelation that two centuries later a Roman force mounted a punitive raid deep inside the tribal areas in AD 235 has changed all that, suggesting that a soldier-emperor, Maximinus Thrax, seriously attempted to subjugate the north of Germany.

The debris from the battle is scattered over a wooded hill, the Harzhorn.

An archeological dig there this summer turned up 1,800 artefacts. A single spot on the hill had been pounded by torsion catapults, one of the most advanced weapons in the Roman arsenal, and 70 bolts from these armour-piercing weapons were still lying in the ground.

The catapults, mounted on wagons, had a range of up to 200 metres, said Michael Moosbauer, an archaeology professor at the Harzhorn site. The iron points weighed 200 grams apiece.

Nine coins that have been found - one minted in AD 228 - also fit the date.

African Heroes of WW2 Remembered in Book

It was the largest single movement of African men overseas since the slave trade. Their contribution is often forgotten by the wider world.

In his book, Fighting For Britain: African Soldiers in the Second World War, historian David Killingray says more than half a million African troops served with the British forces between 1939 and 1945 -- 289,530 of them with the King's African Rifles from Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya and Malawi.

The forgotten heroes of World War II

Sgt. Kagwa, formerly of the King's African Rifles, is one of Uganda's few living veterans of the world's bloodiest conflict.

He told CNN: "We were very scared of the white men. We didn't know anything about them, all we used to hear about was King George, and that made us really frightened when they said they'd come for us and take us to where they are.

"In the year 1939 we were told King George was going to come for us in a few days to go fight in Germany against Hitler and Mussolini, so after a few days a truck came calling us.

"When it came we got in and were taken to the barracks. In the barracks we did not even know what a gun looked like let alone how to fire one. We were totally ignorant, but they still took us to the frontline."

Sgt Kagwa and his friend Masulum Museker, along with thousands of their countrymen, were taken overseas and spent time in the jungles of Burma.

He said: "The frontline was scary but we had been trained how to run, how to load our guns with magazines, and also when inside a tank how to fire and operate it. So that made us confident and we fought bravely.

Climate change is exposing reindeer hunting gear used by the Vikings' ancestors faster than archaeologists can collect it from ice thawing in northern Europe's highest mountains.

Specialized hunting sticks, bows and arrows and even a 3,400-year-old leather shoe have been among finds since 2006 from a melt in the Jotunheimen mountains, the home of the "Ice Giants" of Norse mythology.
